Background:
In the stock markets, it is now possible to get an up-to-date price of a listed stock at virtually any time. This "real time" price reporting could actually provide the most recent or last trade; with at worst a common 15-minute delay.

Before the internet, stock investors would have at least been able to check the daily newspaper for a report of the previous day's closing prices and other market information.

This price transparency has not been available in the Municipal Bond market. Quite the opposite, the Municipal Bond market has traditionally frustrated investors with a serious lack of information and disclosure. Price reporting is a big part of this problem.

In response, Federal authorities initiated a program whereby Municipal Bond brokers and dealers are required to report all their daily Municipal Bond transactions. MunicipalBonds.com compiles and organizes this massive amount of information into a format that looks similar to the closing stock tables seen in any daily newspaper.

Here's information on how to read the MunicipalBonds.com pricing database.
